If you have any questions please contact our Recruitment Coordinator Kyle Lam at kyle.lam@ufl.edu.

GEMRU responders must be currently enrolled at the University of Florida. We have a new application cycle at the beginning of every semester. The application cycle occurs in three phases: An initial application, a written exam, and an interview consisting of questions and practical skills testing. These events will take place throughout the first month of each semester. A link will be uploaded to the home page when application cycles begin.

Potential responders must have an EMR, FR, or EMT license. If you do not have a certification, there are several UF organizations that offer EMR/FR classes.

The University of Florida offers an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course through the school of construction management. This is a 3 credit course offered during the Fall, Spring, and Summer C semesters. The course code is EMS1055 and you can register on ONE.UF. More information can be found on their website: https://dcp.ufl.edu/rinker/academics/certificates/emergency-medical-responder/.

You can obtain a First Responder (FR) certification through First Responder Gator. This course offers a 10 week program every Fall, Spring, and Summer with weekly lectures and labs. The classes are located on UF campus in the evenings. More information can be found on their website: https://frgator.com/.
