Who We Are
Founded in 2015, the Gator Emergency Medical Response Unit (GEMRU) is a student-run, volunteer emergency medical response service operating under the University of Florida Police Department.
GEMRU is a non-transport service staffed by certified EMTs and First Responders. Our responders provide emergent medical care to students, faculty, staff, and visitors across the University of Florida main campus while working in coordination with local EMS, fire, and law enforcement agencies.
What We Do
Emergency Medical Response
GEMRU provides high-quality, confidential, and timely medical care for emergencies occurring across UF’s main campus, supplementing the emergency medical services already serving the community.
Campus Event Coverage
GEMRU provides medical standby for major university events, including football game days, athletics, concerts, and events hosted by colleges, departments, and organizations across UF.
Community Health
GEMRU provides medical education through CPR, Stop the Bleed, Substance Education and Narcan Training (SENT), Emergency Skills Workshops, and other community health initiatives.
The mission of the Gator Emergency Medical Response Unit is to deliver high-quality emergency medical services and community health initiatives to the University of Florida, fostering a safer, more conscientious campus community.
