Joining GEMRU?
Review the eligibility requirements and application process below before applying to join the Gator Emergency Medical Response Unit.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be currently enrolled students at the University of Florida.
Applicants must hold either an EMT certification or First Responder certification.
Visit the How to Become Certified tab for information about obtaining First Responder certification before applying.
Applicants must have a current American Heart Association BLS Provider CPR and AED certification.
Application Process
GEMRU holds a new application cycle during the first month of each semester. When applications open, the current application link will be posted on the GEMRU home page!
Initial Application
Submit the semester’s GEMRU application. Applicants who complete the initial application will be eligible to take the entrance exam.
Entrance Exam
Complete the GEMRU entrance exam as part of the initial applicant review process.
Interview Decisions
After the application and entrance exam are reviewed, applicants will receive a decision regarding advancement to interviews.
Interviews
Selected applicants will participate in an interview with members of GEMRU.
Final Decisions
Applicants will receive their final admissions decision following completion of the interview process.
