GEMRU responders generally work one scheduled shift each week. Shifts are typically 3 or 6 hours and are scheduled between approximately 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. based on member availability.

GEMRU membership also includes other unit activities throughout the semester.

No. EMTs and First Responders are viewed equally during the GEMRU application process.

Applicants may meet GEMRU’s medical certification requirement with either an eligible EMT certification or First Responder / Emergency Medical Responder certification.

The best preparation is to review the material from your previous EMS training and spend additional time on areas you find challenging.
