A complete list of the current classes and programs available within the Community Services Division.

Bicycle Rodeo
Children’s program designed to teach safe bike riding techniques, the value of predictability in traffic and the rules of the road.
Bicycle Registration
Bicycle registration includes affixing a reflective, numbered decal to a bicycle and recording the information about the owner and the bicycle for retrieval in the event the bicycle is stolen. Participation in bicycle registration is voluntary but may be a deterrent to bicycle theft.
Bomb Threats
Bomb threats can be very disturbing and should always be taken seriously. Considered in this program are the steps you should take if you receive a bomb threat and what the University of Florida Police Department will do in response.
Building and Department Security Surveys
The University Police Department has long made detailed security surveys available to campus departments as part of its many programs to improve campus security. The surveys, conducted by specially trained police officers, help to identify existing security weaknesses or potential risks and provide suggestions to reduce or eliminate exposure to criminal activity. You may contact the University Police Department’s Community Services Division at 392-1409 or use the Contact UPD form to make an appointment for your department’s survey.
Operation Identification (OP ID)
Programs for OP ID are scheduled in residence halls, Villages, and offices on request basis. Personal property is engraved with the owner’s the driver license or social security number. Identifying information about the property is recorded and retained by the police department for use should the item be stolen. To register your property online use our Operation Identification form.
Orientation Programs for new, transfer, or international students
The police department regularly provides information reviewing the safety and security measures the university has in place and how to use those services. Orientation programs are very useful to those new to the University of Florida. For more information: https://orientation.dso.ufl.edu/
Personal Safety
This class is designed to inform and educate on the vital issue of personal safety. Common sense, smart decision making, being aware of one’s surroundings, and the buddy system are among the topics discussed to arm the community against personal violence. Sometimes referred to as ‘Rape Prevention’ the information in this program is vitally important to the university community.
Property Security
Designed to inform and educate on the issue of property security. Topics include what an individual can do to secure property, mark property for identification, and prevent property from being stolen.
Self-Defense Awareness and Familiarization Exchange (SAFE)
The S.A.F.E. (Self-Defense Awareness and Familiarization Exchange) program is taught by a nationally certified instructor who is dedicated to help members of our community become more aware of and better familiar with basic self-defense concepts. The course is a 2 hour class geared toward adult and teenage women. The class starts with a short introduction video, then progresses into a 1 1/2 hour physical self-defense familiarization presentation.
