Behavioral Services
The UFPD Behavioral Services Division brings together specialized resources to support individuals in crisis, enhance campus safety, and provide a coordinated, compassionate response to behavioral concerns. The division integrates law enforcement, mental health professionals, and victim advocacy to ensure a holistic approach to prevention, intervention, and support.
Office of Victim Services (OVS) offers confidential advocacy and support to victims of crime, including crisis intervention, safety planning, and assistance navigating university and criminal justice processes. OVS works to ensure victims are informed, supported, and empowered throughout their recovery.
Behavioral Consultation Team (BCT) is a multidisciplinary team that identifies, assesses, and manages individuals who may pose a risk to themselves or others. Through information sharing and coordinated intervention strategies, the BCT works proactively to prevent incidents and promote a safer campus environment.
Co-Responder Program pairs CIT-trained officers with licensed mental health professionals to respond to calls involving individuals in crisis. This team focuses on de-escalation, assessment, and connecting individuals to appropriate services, often providing alternatives to arrest or hospitalization when appropriate.
Together, these units provide a comprehensive, proactive approach to behavioral health and safety, reinforcing UFPD’s commitment to care, collaboration, and community well-being.
