Patrol
The Patrol Division is the largest division within the police department. Its purpose is to preserve a safe, secure campus environment through a combination of reactive, proactive, and educational law enforcement services. Patrol officers are supported by Field Service Technicians. When most people think of police work, they envision officers in patrol vehicles responding to calls and conducting traffic stops, and that’s a core part of what we do. But at UFPD, patrol operations go far beyond traditional law enforcement duties.
Our officers patrol the UF campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing the same level of service you expect from any city or county law enforcement agency. However, at UF, we take it one step further through our strong commitment to the community. Community engagement is at the heart of our mission. Our patrol officers do not just respond to incidents; they actively work to build meaningful relationships with students, faculty, staff, and visitors. You’ll often find our officers conducting foot, bike, and vehicle patrols across campus; participating in Student Community Oriented Police Effort (S.C.O.P.E.), and attending campus events to promote safety awareness and build trust.
We are proud of the men and women who serve in Patrol Operations. Their dedication, visibility, and personal connections help create a campus environment that is not only safer but also more welcoming and inclusive for the entire Gator Nation.
